Elon Musk Claims DOGE Uncovered Massive Social Security Data Breach Involving 400,000 Stolen Identities

Speaking during a virtual Wisconsin town hall on Monday, March 31, Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Director Elon Musk announced that federal investigators have identified a scammer who allegedly stole more than 400,000 Social Security numbers and other sensitive personal data from the U.S. Social Security database. Musk indicated that the individual behind the breach is expected to be arrested imminently.

DOGE Unveils Large-Scale Identity Theft Scheme

The revelation follows weeks of heightened scrutiny of Social Security-related fraud, including concerns raised by DOGE over alleged abuse of Social Security numbers by illegal immigrants. However, Musk emphasized that this particular incident involved a private actor engaging in criminal identity theft and data trafficking.

“I believe someone is going to be arrested tomorrow,” Musk told town hall participants. “This person stole 400,000 Social Security numbers and personal information from the Social Security database.”

Alleged Fraud Involving Pension and Welfare Theft

According to Musk, the perpetrator used the stolen identities to facilitate welfare fraud, particularly by selling the Social Security numbers to individuals seeking to illegally obtain government benefits or assume false identities.

“He was selling Social Security numbers and all the identification information in order for people to basically steal money from Social Security,” Musk explained.

Concerns Over System Vulnerabilities and Voter Fraud

Musk linked the breach to broader national concerns, arguing that illegal immigrants may be using stolen or falsified Social Security numbers to access government services and potentially register to vote illegally.

“So, if you compromise the Social Security system, you can basically get people de facto registered to vote, even if they’re not citizens, and get a bunch of benefits,” Musk warned.

He further criticized what he described as the federal government’s lax enforcement under the Biden administration, suggesting the current system was designed to favor maximum enrollment and minimal verification.

“This wasn’t just incompetence — it was deliberate,” Musk said. “A large-scale effort to shift the voter base and entrench a one-party political structure.”

DOGE Whistleblower: 1.3 Million Illegals Found on Medicaid

A DOGE team member added fuel to the controversy, stating that the agency had discovered over 1.3 million undocumented individuals currently enrolled in Medicaid, citing what they described as “defaults in the system” that automatically provide benefits with limited eligibility screening.

“The defaults in the system — from Social Security to all the benefit programs — have been set to max inclusion, max pay for these people, and minimum collection,” the official said.

Legal and Political Fallout Expected

Musk’s comments have sparked immediate reactions across political and legal circles, with civil liberties groups demanding more transparency on the identity theft claims, and lawmakers calling for immediate hearings on Social Security database vulnerabilities and potential election security breaches.
